Want to upgrade your space with a pop of colour? Switch is the ideal way to revamp furniture and décor, with a unique 5-in-1 nozzle so you can choose the perfect finish. Read on to find out how to refresh a picture frame in just a few simple steps.

What you will need

  • Rust-Oleum Switch
  • Krud Kutter / Cleaner & Degreaser
  • Clean cloth
  • Dust sheet

Steps

  1. Remove the glass or plastic from the back of the picture frame. Clean your frame with Krud Kutter in order to remove any dust or dirt, rinse thoroughly with water and allow to dry. You may also want to put down a dust sheet to protect your floor.

  2. Shake the can vigorously for one minute and set the Switch dial to number 3, selecting Low Output. The Low Output sprays a lower volume of paint for more control, making it perfect for the detailed wave pattern on this frame. Also great for door knockers, letterboxes and other intricate nooks and crannies.

Now you’re ready to start spraying! To achieve a smooth finish, hold the can roughly 30cm away from the surface. Spray each section following the direction of the frame, in a steady back and forth motion, while slightly overlapping each stroke. If spraying a bare metal or plastic picture frame, make sure to use a suitable primer first.

Top tip: after use, turn the can upside down and spray for 2-3 seconds to clear the spray nozzle, so it’s ready for your next project. Repeat this step for each nozzle used by rotating the dial.

  3. And that’s it! Touch dry in 15 minutes and hard dry in 4 hours, stand back to admire your striking new picture frame. We went for bold Poppy Red and delicate pink Soft Rose, for an elegant contrast with similar undertones.
