Remove any loose or flaking paint by thoroughly sanding your stool. You may also want to put down a dust sheet to protect your floor. Clean your chair with Krud Kutter in order to remove any dust, dirt or other contaminants. Rinse thoroughly with a clean damp cloth and allow to dry.
Now you’re ready to start spraying! Shake the can vigorously for one minute and set the Switch dial to number 4, Vertical Fan, to provide even coverage on a wide horizontal surface. Hold the can roughly 30cm away and spray the seat of the stool horizontally, in a steady back and forth motion, while slightly overlapping each stroke.
If spraying a bare metal or plastic stool instead, make sure to use a suitable primer first.
Switch the dial to number 5, Horizontal Fan, for even coverage on a tall, vertical surface. Spray the legs of the chair vertically using the same method, and any other nooks and crannies you may have missed. Apply a second coat within an hour if necessary.
Top tip: after use, turn the can upside down and spray for 2-3 seconds to clear the spray nozzle, so it’s ready for your next project. Repeat this step for each nozzle used by rotating the dial.
Touch dry in 15 minutes and hard dry in 4 hours, stand back and admire your stylishly upcycled stool. Perfect for desks, breakfast bars or dining areas, we refreshed this stool with deep green Forest Fern, to add a touch of drama.
Whether you’re upcycling kitchen stools, storage units or smaller accessories, there’s a spray nozzle to suit your project. With 22 stunning shades and matt, satin and gloss finishes to choose from, Switch is a simple yet effective way of upcycling décor.
