How To Spray Paint A Wicker Basket

wicker basket

Painting a wicker basket is child’s play with spray paint. It covers quickly and gets into all of the hard to reach places a brush would struggle with.

Wicker baskets add texture to your home and are great for storing logs, newspapers, magazines – not forgetting clean (and not-so-clean) washing.

This old wicker washing basket now looks as clean as the washing it holds. Simply follow the steps below to get the look…

What you will need

  • A wicker basket
  • Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch
  • Rust-Oleum Surface Primer
  • Damp cloth
  • Sandpaper
  • Newspaper / dust sheets

Steps

  1. Move the wicker basket outside or into the garage and lay down dusts sheets or newspaper to contain spray mist. Remove any existing flaking paint and use a damp cloth to ensure the surface is clean and free from dust, residue etc. When dry, lightly sand the surface for better paint adhesion.

  2. Give the basket two light coats with Rust-Oleum Surface Primer for best finish possible.

  3. When this is dry, apply two light, even coats of Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in your chosen shade. Always follow the instructions on the back of the can and allow to dry completely for 24 hours.
