Switch is the perfect way to revamp storage units with a unique twist. The innovative, 5-in-1 nozzle allows you to select the perfect spray pattern for the job and take on any paint project. Read on to find out how to transform old school metal lockers with an impactful new shade.

What you will need

  • Rust-Oleum Switch
  • Krud Kutter Cleaner / Degreaser
  • Sanding block or electric sander
  • Clean cloth
  • Dust sheet

Steps

  1. Remove any loose or flaking paint by thoroughly sanding your locker. You may also want to put down a dust sheet to protect your floor. Clean your metal locker with Krud Kutter in order to remove any dust from sanding, and other contaminants such as dirt or grime. Rinse thoroughly with a wet cloth and allow to dry.

  2. Shake the can vigorously for one minute and set the Switch dial to number 1, selecting High output. The High Output spray releases a higher volume of paint, making it perfect for even coverage on larger surfaces such as storage units or bookcases.

Now you’re ready to start spraying! To achieve a smooth finish, hold the can roughly 30cm away from the surface. Spray each side of the locker horizontally, from side to side, in a steady back and forth motion, while slightly overlapping each stroke. If spraying bare metal, make sure to use a suitable primer first. Once done, apply a second coat within an hour if necessary, covering any smaller details like keyholes or handles.

Top tip: After use, turn the can upside down and spray for 2-3 seconds to clear the spray nozzle, so it’s ready for your next project. Repeat this step for each nozzle used by rotating the dial.

  3. And that’s it! Touch dry in 15 minutes and hard dry in 4 hours, stand back to admire your stylish new storage. We went for this zesty Citrus Orange to make a big impact.

Whatever your project, Switch has a spray nozzle to suit the job. Choose from 22 stunning colours and revamp furniture with a refreshing new makeover, in a flawless matt, satin or gloss finish.
