Thank you to all who entered our Make it Yours competition in October. It was a tough month for judging with so many inspirational upcycles and transformation projects to choose from. However, with much deliberation, we have chosen the 10 runners up and our lucky top prize winner.
The top prize this month of £250 went to Jane who transformed an antique display unit into a botanical paradise with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Bramwell and a protective coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear. Jane also added a metallic twist by painting the glass lead with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Gold. For the final touch a leaf print was added, and the unit was complete.
Antonia bought two Louis style chairs for only £8 each. To complete this transformation, Antonia used Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Chalk White, distressed the finish and added a protective coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear. The chairs were then reupholstered to complete the look.
Bogna bought a rocking horse from a charity shop and transformed it into a zebra using Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish Furniture Paint, Gold as a base coat, followed by Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint, Chalk White and stripe detail with Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Carbon. For the finishing touch, Bogna used sandpaper to lightly distress the finish and reveal the gold, followed by a protective coating of Rust-Oleum Furniture Lacquer, Clear.
Clare upcycled an art deco chest of drawers with Rust-Oleum Gloss Finish Furniture Paint in Mineral Grey, giving the piece a modern twist.
Laura used Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Strawberry Vanilla to transform an old wooden cot. Satin Finish Furniture Paint is certified Toy Safe so is perfect for a child’s furniture and looks fabulous!
Laura bought a nest of tables in a junk store and decided to give them a new lease of life. To get this look, Laura used Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Ink Blue, Lemon Jelly, Belgrave and Chalk White to stencil amazing patterns on the table tops and added a protective coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear.
Molly used Rust-Oleum Rose Gold Metallic spray paint to add a metallic pop to this chest so that it ties in with her décor. Great job!
Wendy upcycled a pine welsh dresser with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Chalk White and added a protective coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear to finish the transformation!
Nicki created the perfect pink cupboard with Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Pink Champagne as a base coat. Nicki then created an ombre effect with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Violet Macaroon, Dusky Pink with metallic accents of Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish Furniture Paint, Gold and a protective finish of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear.
Petra renovated a side table with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint, Antique White for the base and Graphite for the top. To ensure the paint is protected, Petra added a protective coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear.
Tina updated a pine bookcase with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Chalk White and lightly distressed the finish for the final look.
