The interior design world has been all over chalkboards for the kitchen, kid’s bedrooms and even the living room but it’s only just started to move into the bathroom. With endless possibilities creatively, the only limit is your imagination.
We think the most striking and quirky application is chalkboard wallpaper. To do this, paint the wall (don’t forget the mirror frame and toothbrush holder too) and draw on your delightfully unique designs. If this is a little too adventurous for you, a great alternative is a chalkboard door for messages, drawings and even the toiletries shopping list.

A staple in any bathroom, the humble shelf is both for storage and a place to show off beautiful accessories and bathroom essentials. For this reason, we think shelving needs some love and should be just as beautiful as the objects they hold.
Gold accessories are bang on trend this season so we don’t need any more excuses to apply that to our bathroom shelving. A coat of opulent gold to the most boring and basic of shelves will give them an instant lift. Dress with other gold items and luxurious trinkets to complete the look.

It’s good to think outside the box when it comes to furniture in the bathroom. Gone are the days of designated types and styles for the bathroom. Instead, try a china cabinet for towel storage or a small chest of drawers as a vanity unit. The possibilities are endless when you rethink the purpose of a piece of furniture and reimagine another use for it.

With an abundance of stencils currently on the market, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to creating the perfect statement bathroom floor.

Matt blacks and dark greys are tipped to be hot this year for kitchens and bathrooms. Black is always in fashion of course, but it is currently having a moment in the spotlight in its matt format.
Used on furniture and accessories, it can work as a dramatic accent or to ground an otherwise airy space. When teamed up with soft pink walls or tiles and gold accessories in the bathroom, you’ll have the ideal sophisticated and on trend look.
Get the look: The bathroom we’ve shown was updated with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Graphite for the vanity unit and mirror, and finished with a protective overcoat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax in Dark.
Adding the dark wax over the chalky Graphite enriches the colour while giving it a soft sheen. To complete the look, the washing basket were then sprayed with Rust-Oleum Metallic Bright Gold and sat against a soft pink wall to add a touch of glamour.
