Our judges were impressed with the quality of the entries and the creative skills displayed.
Congratulations to Carol Worthington who scooped the £250 top prize. Carol transformed a console table to fit in with her new décor, creating an up to date vintage look. She used Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Anthracite and finished it off with a glamorous crystal handle.
Sandra Ward bought three dated chairs at auction and instantly updated them with Painter’s Touch in Heirloom White, completing the look with some stylish upholstery.
Lucie Duggan creatively upcycled a set of tired old step ladders using Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Winter Grey and Antique White. She then used them to display painted plant pots and jam jars finished in Painter’s Touch Duck Egg Blue and Candy Pink. What a great idea!
Elaine Gadd accessorised her daughter’s room with a delightful, butterfly-shaped, hanging wall storage unit, painted with Painter’s Touch Green Apple and finished off with some contrasting wallpaper.
Morgan Rose Seaton picked up a dated jewellery box at a car boot sale for the “bargainous” – as she puts it – price of £2. She then set about transforming it with a combination of Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Winter Grey and some lovely kitsch wallpaper.
Nikki Bentham created a stylish bedside table using Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Belgrave, sealing the paintwork with the Furniture Finishing Wax. The crystal knobs she used really add to the vintage look.
Gabor Tanczos (photo 7) showed real artistic skill, creating a beautiful space scene using a selection of colours from the Painter’s Touch range of spray paints. Upon learning he was a winner he told us “Rust-Oleum paints are the best i’ve ever used” – thank you, Gabor.
Mick Paul very cleverly transformed some ordinary croquet mallets into pink flamingos for an Alice in Wonderland themed bridal shower. He used Surface Primer in White Matt to prepare them and created the flamingo motif using Neon Pink and Painter’s Touch in Black Gloss and White Gloss for the detailing.
Ruth Bagnall repurposed a simple stool and transformed it into a play oven for her daughter. She used Painter’s Touch in Tranquil Blue and completed the stool with ceramic knobs and hooks. Ruth states that it has “stood up to the ultimate test — toddler’s play time”.
Janie Bond updated two old chairs – given to her by her mother-in-law – using Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Mustard and Dusky Pink and sealed with the Furniture Finishing Wax.
Claire Graves gave her plain black BBQ a retro revival using Painter’s Touch in Candy Pink. She states “We now have a beautiful funky BBQ ready for sausages and burgers”. Enjoy, Claire!
