We had a record number of entries to this month’s ‘Make It Yours’ competition. Thank you to every one who entered. Unfortunately there can only be one winner (and ten runners up).
The £250 first prize went to Jill Tune who used Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Anthracite to give a dated set of drawers a beautiful new modern appearance. Jill used Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax to protect the finished piece.
Vivienne Edwards fell in love with this American style rocking chair and knew she could bring it back to its former glory with a simple lick of paint. She painted in with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Antique White and distressed it to reveal the wood beneath. With a coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax to protect and seal the transformation is complete.
Kloe Jobling updated a set of old fashion tables to a modern look with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Graphite. For the top surfaces she used wallpaper samples to decoupage, giving the tables a trendy, quirky edge.
Ann Hollis picked up an old high-fi stand from a house clearance and knew she could make it great again. She gave the unit a base coat of Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Belgrave then over coated with Chalk White so that she could distress the top coat and revel the colour below. With a coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax and some matching wallpaper to adorn the interior, the cabinet transformation is a success.
Ebony Shrubb gave a 1970’s set a drawers an instant update with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Graphite. With the addition of some red rose handles the transformation is super trendy and would look great in anyones home.
Michelle Harris has updated an old desk for her son, that in its current state was not the most appropriate colour for a little boy. She repainted the desk in Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Slate Blue and Black Matt, finishing with a decoupaged lid in vintage commando style magazine pages. To finish she gave the desk an all over coat of Rust-Oleum Crystal Clear spray paint to protect and seal the paint work and decoupage.
Amanda Porter has very stylishly updated a chest of drawers using Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Anthracite for the frame and Winter Grey for the drawer fronts. A set of stylish silver handles completes the look.
Heather Prentice saved her grandparents old stools from being thrown away and decided that she could give them a new lease of life. She started by sanding them down then spray painting them the lovely Green Apple colour from the Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch range. To finish she replaced the shabby red leather fabric on the seat cushions with some matching green fabric.
Kirsty Seaden had taken two hexagonal plant pots and transformed them into confectionary inspired creations, using Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Blossom White, Black Gloss and Berry Pink she used masking tape to create the vertical stripes.
Karen Booth repurposed two old and broken dining chairs into fun planters using Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch spray Paint in Spa Blue and Berry Pink. They now take pride of place in Karen’s garden.
