Project Inspiration: Update an ornate photo frame

Photo_Frame

Photo frames come in all shapes and sizes providing us with plenty of opportunities to get creative.

Updating a picture frame can be either a perfect starter project for anyone looking to improve their upcycling skills or simply an easy project to tackle when you have just a few hours to spare.

Instead of looking for a shiny, new frame pick up a quirky second hand frame from charity shops and markets.

Don’t worry about its appearance, instead focus on the detailing of the frame. An old, dated photo frame can be totally transformed with just a coat of paint.

For our project we took an ever popular Baroque style photo frame and gave it a splash of colour with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Craft Enamel spray paint in Tranquil Blue (Gloss). This block colour pop really compliments a black and white photo and looks perfect in a neutral setting.

Painter’s Touch Craft Enamel spray paint is also fast drying and chip resistant giving any new creation a long and beautiful life. However, if you choose to change the colour of your room or setting you can easily update the frame and transform it again!

If you’ve got a little more time (and a lot more photographs to display) why not revive a whole mix of photo frames in a uniform style.

For just a few pounds in a local charity shop we picked up this collection of old picture frames, each with a unique, distinctive moulding.

Once we had given them a good clean, we used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in White (Gloss) to create a classic feel with a twist. The result was an eclectic photo frame collection that were unrecognisable.
