Painting your garage door with an electric sprayer is a simple, yet effective, way to spruce up your exteriors. Specifically designed to protect against severe weather, read on to find out how to refresh your garage door with our Metal Expert Garage Door Paint, for an ultra-durable, airbrushed finish.
Remove any loose paint or rust by scraping and wire brushing, or sanding, your garage door. Once you’ve ensured that the surface is smooth, clean your garage door with Krud Kutter Cleaner / Degreaser to remove any contaminants. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
Tip: Protect yourself with a mask and/or goggles and lay down a dust sheet to protect your drive from paint drips and splatters.
Use masking tape to mask off any areas you do not wish to paint, such as the edge of the garage door.
Stir the Metal Expert Garage Door Paint thoroughly and dilute with water by 10-20% as required. Stir the paint again thoroughly before adding to the paint sprayer. You may wish to test the sprayer first on a piece of cardboard before you begin.
Use the electric paint sprayer to apply the paint with a side-to-side motion. Make sure to stand a suitable distance away from your garage door and distribute the paint evenly across the entire surface. Two coats are recommended for the perfect finish. Allow 4 hours drying time before applying the second coat.
