Creating Natural Textures And Faux Finishes

Stone_Lamp_Base

Different textures give a room depth, contrast and personality. One simple way to inject varying textures into your home is to revamp your accessories with spray paint.

From stone to terracotta, discover how everyday accessories can be given a new lease of life…

Cast Iron

Large items updated with a cast iron finish can create a dramatic and seductive atmosphere, adding moody depth to a room. We revamped a classic roll top bath with Rust-Oleum Natural Effects in Cast Iron, a beautiful deep natural shade which transformed a plain and boring bathroom into something which would look right at home in a romantic set for the silver screen. Now all that’s needed is candle light and a glass of bubbly to complete the scene, bliss.

Stone

Giving the impression of a weightier item with the natural look and texture of real stone is simple with Rust-Oleum Stone Spray Paint. The adhesive formula provides a long-lasting, decorative finish which will no doubt prompt guests to reach out and touch!

We used Rust-Oleum Stone Spray Paint in Bleached Stone to create the look of an expensive stone fireplace as it complemented the interiors but with the additional choice of Mineral Brown, Pebble and Black Granite you’re bound to find the perfect stone finish for any room.

Terracotta

A perfect way to transform bargain buys into something a little more sophisticated create a faux, terracotta finish. We took a couple of plain plant pots (below) and transformed them with Rust-Oleum Natural Effects Spray Paint in Terracotta.

This spray paint can be used on items made from wood, metal, plastic and even, concrete.

This cute, heart-shaped, plastic bowl was worn and ready for the bin. We made it look good as new and gave it a new lease of life with Rust-Oleum Textured Spray Paint in Aged Iron.

Limestone

Natural finishes are incredibly versatile and can really make items in the home unique. We upgraded this dark mirror frame with Rust-Oleum Natural Effects Spray Paint in Limestone.

If you’re looking to brighten a room on a budget, injecting Limestone into a few select items can give a cleaner impression for next to nothing.

Cast Bronze

Bringing the outdoors in or beautifying window sills is a simple way to brighten up a room. Go that extra step further and add a cast bronze finish to the plant pots.

We took two large garden planters and updated them with a coat of Rust-Oleum Natural Effects spray paint in Cast Bronze which not only made the plant pots look great but really made the florals pop.
