for this project we recommend using spray paint. Not only can the colour transformation change the look and texture of your letters in an instant, there are no messy brushes to clean up afterwards!
You can pick up basic 3D letters on eBay or Amazon for next to nothing. It may be that you already have letters lying around the home and want to give them a new lease of life like we did with the grey letters above.
Before you get started consider the colour combinations and the room they will be featured in. Choosing the colours is the hardest part of this upcycle project!
Our grey letters were crying out for some colour so we chose four shades of blue to tie them into summer nautical trends. We used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Spray Paint in Navy Blue, Spa Blue, Deep Blue and Brilliant Blue (all Gloss finish).
If you would like to create a bold statement, go for a block colour and mount onto a white wall. Alternatively mix and match colours with a stark contrast (such as pink and orange) to really make the letters stand out.
It’s such a quick and easy project, we’re definitely going to repaint our letters in a few months to match the seasonality of the rooms’ interiors.
