As more and more entries come in each month, we are amazed to see all of the tremendous transformations and beautiful upcycles. So many creative projects made it a tough task to choose our favourites, but with much deliberation the ten runners up and our lucky top prizewinner have been chosen.
The top prize this month of £250 went to Meg Smith who beautifully upcycled a dark wood dressing table into a shabby chic masterpiece. This Alice in Wonderland inspired dresser was transformed with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Antique White and Chalk White, followed by a protective coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax in Clear. Meg has created a perfectly unique item of furniture that has been expertly finished off with unique animal and crystal handles, gorgeous!
Andreea Curta found a sideboard in a charity shop and couldn’t resist. With the help of Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Blue Silk, Rust-Oleum Metallic Brush Paint in Gold and Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Bronze, this tired piece of furniture has been completely transformed. Not forgetting Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax in Clear, and Rust-Oleum Clear Sealer, Matt to ensure this fabulous look is protected.
Ann Willrich created a sweet delight when personalising her bathroom mirror. Using Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Dusky Pink and Chalk White, Ann has added a feminine touch to her mirror and we love it!
Jodie Parkin transformed this dark wood chest of drawers with a modern makeover. Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Graphite was the key to this transformation with a protective coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax in Clear. Jodie also used Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish Furniture Paint in Silver to define the trim around the edge of the drawers and the top and bottom of the unit to make it really pop!
Stacey Mcginn took an unloved retro style chair and made it super glam using Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Emerald. Stacey then added botanical print fabric to the seat and finished it beautifully with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Bronze. Its now bang on trend for this season and a totally desirable item.
Sean Sparkes made a custom TV unit from scaffolding board and painted it with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Chalk White, Cocoa and Winter Grey to create a rustic weathered wood effect. Sean then added a protective finish of Rust-Oleum Lacquer – and of course the funky lighting to really make it stand out!
Susanna Illingworth revamped her bedroom with a chest of drawers upcycle. Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Anthracite was used for the outside of the unit, and inside she added a surprise colour pop of Rust-Oleum Neon in Green. Susanna then sealed in the look with Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax and added new drawer knobs and voila!
Claire Owens bought this unit from a house clearance store for just £10. After taking it home, she transformed it with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Hessian and distressed it for a charming, shabby chic finish!
Sue Harvey certainly set herself a challenge with this upcycle and did a fantastic job! After removing the old vinyl from her radio, she watered down Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Belgrave and applied three layers to achieve an even finish. Now Sue’s radio looks brand new!
Kerry Burns was on a mission for a dining room make over and upcycled not one, but five chairs! Kerry used Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Violet Macaroon, Belgrave, Sage Green, Mustard and Dusky Pink to paint her chairs and they look amazing! Finished with a coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax and new fabric these chairs on unrecognisable!
