It was a tough month for judging with a multitude of inspirational summer upcycles and transformation projects to choose from. However, with much deliberation we have chosen 10 runners up and our lucky top prizewinner.
This month’s top prize of £250 went to Chloe Rees who gave her Rangemaster a new lease of life. By masking off the handles, Chloe was able to use Rust-Oleum Stove & BBQ spray paint in Matt Black to give her range a new modern look instead of the tired bottle green.
Alex Leung has ingeniously personalised an Ikea baby gym using Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Black Satin and White Satin. Alex mixed the black and white paints to add greys into the monochrome make over. Not only does this look super stylish, it’s also “Toy Safe”.
Emma Collins upcycled a bland coffee table into a patterened masterpiece using Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Anthracite, Mustard and Clotted Cream, along with Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Carbon. Emma used a stencil to create this beautiful new look and to ensure the look is protected, she used Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax,Clear.
Claire Owens renovated a welsh dresser that was donated to her with the help of Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Winter Grey and Graphite. This dresser was painted first with Graphite then a topcoat of Winter Grey, following this the paint was distressed to create a farmhouse shabby chic style. Claire finished the piece with a protective coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear.
Leanne Taylor bought an Ercol table for just £15 and added a contemporary pop of colour. This bold statement was achieved using Rust-Oleum Gloss Finish Furniture Paint in Lemon Sorbet. The table varnish was a little worn, so to ensure it looked as good as new Leanne varnished the visible wood with Rust-Oleum Polyurethane Varnish.
Debbie Carmichael bought a second hand set of drawers in a dated, dark-wood. To give them a much-needed revamp, Debbie used Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Winter Grey and Antique White. She also used a combination of stencils and masking tape to create stripes and patterns on the front of the drawers. Following this once dry the drawers were lightly sanded to create an aged effect then sealed with Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear.
Stephen Pool created a modern geometric pastel pattered coffee table for his living room from a previously drab pine table. Using Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in China Rose, Duck Egg, Laurel Green, Hessian and Anthracite, as well as Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Cotton Stephen gave the table a fabulous makeover that we love!
Harley Westlake has upcycled a table that has been in the family for over 20 years. This new look is a clean ombre effect ready for their first home. Harley used Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Cotton for the white base and created the ombre effect with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Belgrave.
Danielle Parisi painted an old bookshelf in Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch, Bright Yellow Gloss Finish to add an amazing pop of colour to her guest bedroom. Fantastic job!
