Thank you to all who entered our Make It Yours competition in August. It was a tough month for judging with a multitude of inspirational summer upcycles and transformation projects to choose from. However, with much deliberation we have chosen 10 runners up and our lucky top prizewinner.
The top prize this month of £250 went to Karla Finnegan who added an ultra-modern, twist to a vintage sideboard, purchased for £10 on eBay. Karla applied Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Pink Champagne and used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Craft Enamel in Gold to match the hinges to the new gold knobs. We think this one of a kind upcycled home bar looks fantastic!
Sarah-Jayne Sharpe painted the exterior of this tired looking, 28-year-old caravan with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Bright Orange, Green, Bright Yellow, Cherry Red, White, Purple and Black. She also used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch 20ml pots in Bright Red, Deep Red and Aqua to create a groovy home away from home.
Alicia Symonds upcycled a vintage foldaway table to create a modern masterpiece! She used masking tape to mark out her design and chose Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Strawberry Vanilla and Rust-Oleum Metallic Spray Paint in Bright Gold. What a beautiful colour combination!
John Williams created a bespoke, handmade campervan coffee table/ fun table and painted it with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Cherry Red, Heirloom White, Bright Orange and Black Gloss finish. We’re bowled over by his skill and imagination!
Kevin Marcus Holmes adapted a paraffin can to turn it into a trendy, industrial style table lamp! Kevin painted the can with Rust-Oleum Natural Effects spray paint in Cast Bronze and added some vintage gauges for extra interest.
Virag Vincze upcycled a wooden pallet to create an industrial chic dining table. Virag sprayed the pallet with Rust-Oleum Gun Metal spray paint and added a cool stencil design with Rust-Oleum Metallic Spray Paint in Silver. Finally, metal pin legs were attached to complete the design.
Sharon Hewitt created this fantastic half moon table using Rust-Oleum Gloss Finish Furniture Paint in Dove. By adding mirrored pieces to create a mosaic design, this table has gone from drab to glitzy and fab!
Robin Simmons sprayed his 1972 Reliant Scimitar car with Rust-Oleum Universal All-Surface spray paint in Canary Yellow. We’re really impressed with this large-scale transformation.
Hayley Marie Munn transformed her vintage sideboard with Queen Anne Legs by adding a simple coat of Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Duck Egg. Finally, she swapped the original handles and brackets for modern silver hardware, completing the new look.
Derek Usher added a touch of colour and personality to his old, hand-made pine Welsh Dresser with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Antique White, Bramwell and Belgrave and protected his handy work Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear. Now his dresser is taking pride of place in his home, displaying a beautiful matching dinner set.
Amy Coppin bought this vintage sideboard from a local charity shop and with a little imagination, turned it into a beautiful drinks cabinet. For the main outer, she used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch satin spray paint in Stone Grey. For the drawers she used Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Duck Egg and Belgrave and Rust-Oleum Painters Touch in White Satin. She finished with Rust-Oleum Furniture Lacquer to seal, enhance and protect the paintwork.
