Thank you to all who entered our Make It Yours competition in April. It was a tough month for judging with a multitude of inspirational upcycles and transformation projects to choose from. However, with much deliberation we have chosen 10 runners up and our lucky top prizewinner.
The top prize this month of £250 went to Rachael Havenhand who gave a vintage 1950’s electric fire a new lease of life with a pop of pink! Rachael used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch spray paint in Candy Pink to make this bold statement, combined with the monochrome surround, we love it!
Painter’s Touch isn’t recommended for working fireplaces, if you’d like a paint with heat resistance check out our Stove & BBQ spray and brush paints.
Tracy Wells brought a 1930’s chest of drawers right up to date using Rust-Oleum Surface Primer to ensure the wood was properly prepped, followed by a top coat of Rust-Oleum Universal All-Surface Spray Paint in Black Satin. We love this chic new look which has been perfectly finished by adding cute new gold handles and casters. Good job Tracy!
Michael McAuley recently bought an original 1970’s teak sideboard for his living room, but wanted to add a modern twist. Michael achieved this new look with excellent masking tape skills and Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Slate, Teal and Pink Champagne. This looks fab!
Joanne Ryan has upcycled some mid century chairs into mustard Orla Kiely masterpieces with the help of Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch spray paint in White Gloss. This fresh new look goes perfectly with Joanne’s teak table from Freecycle!
Steven Gaskin certainly made a statement with this desk makeover. Steven made 36 individual panels covered in orange faux-leather to replicate Art Deco inspired travelling cases and painted all exterior wood in Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch brush paint in Bright Orange. Great job!
Charlotte Edwards gave a dark wood welsh dresser a new lease of life by sanding the top back to reveal the oak underneath. Charlotte then painted the rest of the unit in Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint, Anthracite to freshen up the dresser and it looks beautiful!
Clare Waugh transformed a mid century chest of drawers with Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Slate. This simple makeover has completely changed the look. Well done Clare!
Vicki McLellan purchased this gorgeous vintage dressing table for only £30 from a local charity shop. With a few coats of Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Anthracite Vicki added a modern twist. To protect the finish she used Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear. Lovely!
Emily Burrows decided to give an old chest of drawers a geometric makeover using Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Dusky Pink and Anthracite, with a protective coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear. Now this chest of drawers looks modern and quirky, perfect for Emily’s fun new home office!
