Thank you to all who entered our Make It Yours competition in June. It was a tough month for judging with a multitude of inspirational upcycles and transformation projects to choose from. However, with much deliberation we have chosen 10 runners up and our lucky top prizewinner.
The top prize this month of £250 went to Jade Finnan who created a modern chevron masterpiece by upcycling an old chest of drawers. This look was created with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Ink Blue and Winter Grey. Jade distressed the paint and added a protective coating of Rust-Oleum Furniture Lacquer, Matt. The final finishing touch is the pin legs to tie in the new look. Great job Jade!
Abigail Green made a fab dog food station from scratch using boarding, she then added decoupage the base of the unit; protecting the finish with Rust-Oleum Crystal Clear, Gloss topcoat. For the top of the unit Abigail used Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Mustard and after distressing the paint finish, added a further protective coat to the paint using Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear.
Rebecca MacBain used an old wooden pallet to create a music wall for her toddlers in the garden. To achieve this bold look, Rebecca painted the pallet with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch, Green and Rust-Oleum Universal All Surface Paint, Cobalt Blue, both products are suitable for interior and exterior use. We love it!
Stacey Hudson transformed an old cream glossy side table into a beautiful succulent sanctuary with the help of Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint, Graphite and a protective coating of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax, Clear. Stacey first sanded the unit before repainting then distressing to get the perfect look. Excellent job!
Sallyann Miles bought a retro dressing table that needed some TLC. This fab new look was created using Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Graphite and Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Candy Pink for the perfect colour pop!
Rebecca Smith transformed a side table with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Chalk White, Winter Grey and Anthracite. This modern makeover has really freshened up the unit!
Paulina Parafiniuk Kaczorowska painted the panels of this mid century dressing table to lighten the look using Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Winter Grey. This had added a modern twist, nice job!
Ilona transformed an old coffee table with Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Teal to completely change the look. To add the perfect finishing touches, Ilona created a beautiful design using Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch, Old Penny Bronze. Fab!
Elizabeth gave her Ikea Tarva bedside table, a new lease of life with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Chalk White and Strawberry Vanilla. We love this subtle pop of colour. To finish the look Elizabeth hand painted a mandala pattern onto the drawer front in Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch, Pewter. Amazing!
Clare Waugh transformed a mid century side table with the help of Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Slate and Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Mustard. Clare also revamped the metal work with Rust-Oleum Metallic Gold, then sealed the look with Rust-Oleum Clear Sealer. Great job!
Nataliya Pinchuk upcycled an old nest of tables using Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Hessian and added floral decoupage detail. Natalia also protected her project with a topcoat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Lacquer. Excellent!
