Liz Barker gave an old dated chair a complete facelift using a two-tone effect for the frame and adding a splash of colour with some new upholstery. Using Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish Furniture Paint in Silver she first added an all over basecoat then over coated when dry with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Antique White. Distressed with sandpaper the metallic basecoat is revealed and finished with a coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax to protect.

Miranda Watson has skillfully decorated a second-hand blanket box using a base of Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Belgrave and a stencil to create hand painted shoals of fish. All protected with a coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax in Clear, Miranda also transferred the design onto a canvas to match.

Kellie Rubinia has upcycled an old stag dressing table and stool, turning it from a dark brown wood to a gorgeous grey distressed finish. Using the technique of dry brushing, Kellie first gave the piece an all over coat of Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Winter Grey then lightly brushed on Anthracite to create a distressed effect. Finished with a protective coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax in Clear the transformation was complete.

Jade Finnan received an old chest of drawers from a relative and wanted to match it in with her décor and also bring it up to date. She chose to decorate it with a trendy chevron design using Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Flint and Anthracite for the contrast in the stripes. The piece now sits pride of place in her bedroom.

Tim Helliwell has brought a dated pine sideboard right up to date with a sophisticated makeover. To achieve this he used Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Anthracite to paint the unit, leaving the top surface the original finish to add contrast. Finished with a set of trendy doorknobs to tie it all together the transformation is complete.

Meg Smith as a gift for her goddaughters Christening, customised a child’s chair to create a piece that she would grow up to love. Meg painted the frame in Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Dusky Pink and finished with a protective coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax. To complete and personalise she upholstered the seat cushion with fun Big Friendly Giant fabric to match in with her goddaughters nursery.

Sammy Mason has creatively revamped an old wooden coffee table with a bespoke top. Using Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint in Carbon she painted the entire table then gave the top a textured look with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Silver and a scrunched up piece of foil. The effect is impressive and really suits the table.

Zoe-Lee Skelton has given an old and tired chair a spectacular splash of colour by combining some of our prettiest furniture paint colours. Using Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Emerald as the main colour she then accented this with pops of Dusky Pink, Bramwell, Mustard, Powder Blue and Belgrave from the same range on the spindles of the chair. The colour combinations work perfectly together and really complement the greenery she has styled with it.
