What you will need

  • Rust-Oleum Metal Expert Water-Based Metal Paint
  • Brush or roller
  • Krud Kutter Cleaner / Degreaser
  • Clean cloth
  • Paint stirrer
  • Dust sheet (if required)
  • Scraper, wire brush or sanding block

Steps

  1. Remove any loose paint or rust by scraping and wire brushing, or sanding your garden planter.

Once you’ve ensured that the surface is smooth, clean your planter thoroughly with Krud Kutter Cleaner / Degreaser. This will remove any dirt, debris or other contaminants. Wipe with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

Tip: You may wish to lay down a dust sheet to protect your grass or patio from drips and spills.

  2. Stir the Metal Expert Water-Based Metal Paint thoroughly before use.

  3. Apply the Metal Expert Water-Based Metal Paint with a suitable brush or roller. A roller works well for larger areas, like the side of the planter, while a brush is great for smaller areas, embellishments or details.

Allow 4 hours drying time and apply a second coat if necessary, touching up any areas you may have missed. This planter has been painted Chrome Green for a fresh, natural look.

  4. And that’s it! Rust-Oleum Metal Expert Water-Based Metal Paint will instantly refresh planters and other garden accessories. With an ultra-durable, water-shedding formula, the paint is specifically designed to stand up to severe weather and resist cracking, peeling and blistering for up to 12 years*. Perfect for an exterior makeover that will last come rain or shine.

*The paint film is designed to resist cracking, peeling and blistering for up to 12 years before first maintenance.
