Painting your garage door is a simple yet effective way to spruce up your exteriors, and our Metal Expert Garage Door Paint is perfect for the job. Specifically designed to protect against severe weather, read on to find out how to refresh your garage door with an ultra-durable, water-shedding finish.

What you will need

  • Rust-Oleum Metal Expert Garage Door Paint
  • Brush, roller or electric sprayer
  • Krud Kutter Cleaner / Degreaser
  • Clean cloth
  • Paint stirrer
  • Masking tape
  • Scraper, wire brush or sanding block (if required)

Steps

  1. Remove any loose paint or rust by scraping and wire brushing or sanding your garage door. Once you’ve ensured that the surface is smooth, clean your garage door with Krud Kutter Cleaner / Degreaser to remove any contaminants. Wipe with a damp cloth and allow to dry.  Use masking tape to mask off any areas you do not wish to paint, such as the edge of the garage door.

Tip: Protect yourself with a mask and/or goggles and lay down a dust sheet to protect your drive from paint drips and splatters.

  2. Stir the Metal Expert Garage Door Paint thoroughly before use.

  3. Apply the paint by brush or roller. If rollering, use a short to medium nap mohair roller. Two coats are recommended for the perfect finish. Allow 4 hours drying time before applying the second coat.

  4. And that’s it! Rust-Oleum Metal Expert Garage Door Paint is the ideal way to refresh your exteriors. The corrosion and mould-resistant* formula is water-shedding and ultra-durable, specifically designed to stand up to severe weather and resist cracking, peeling and blistering for up to 12 years†.

Prefer to use an electric sprayer? Follow this method instead.
