HOW TO USE RUST-OLEUM METALLIC FINISH FURNITURE PAINT

When it comes to accessories metallics have never been so popular, but they don’t always have to play the supporting role. No, it’s time to be bold and makeover a piece of furniture with Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish Furniture Paint.

 

Two timeless shades, silver and gold will complement most colour schemes and transform the look and feel of your interior space. Don’t believe us?

 

Follow our step-by-step guide on how to use Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish Furniture Paint alongside Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint, and give the mundane a metallic glam shabby chic effect that looks amazing.

What you will need

  • An item of furniture
  • Clean dry cloth x 3
  • Mixing sticks
  • Paintbrush x 2
  • Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish Furniture Paint – Colour of your choice
  • Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint – Colour of your choice
  • Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax – Clear

Steps

  1. Wipe down the surface of your chosen piece of furniture with a clean dry cloth to remove any residue.

  2. Using a mixing stick, stir paint thoroughly before applying.

  3. Apply one to two coats of Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish Furniture Paint in Silver as a basecoat.

  4. Allow the metallic basecoat to dry fully then stir the chalky paint thoroughly.

  5. Apply one to two coats of Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint in Ink Blue as a topcoat.

  6. Once fully dry, distress detailed areas with a damp cloth to reveal sections of the metallic basecoat.

  7. Apply a coat of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax in Clear with a clean dry cloth to seal and protect the painted finish.

  8. Buff the surface to a soft sheen with your remaining clean dry cloth. And don’t forget to give yourself a big pat on the back – amazing!
